I’m starting this blog as a means to share my original poetry, poetry I love by others, & to share some writing insights I’ve acquired over my some twenty years teaching writing tips & techniques to college students.
I will start with a poem I wrote several years ago with a not so veiled reference to Pablo Neruda, the Chilean Nobel prize winning poet.
“Mom gets no Pablo”
says my wife
certain that
certain things
might offend.
like legs spread
just so.
like
positions
I’ve felt
deeply
in the cavernous night.
“you write as Pablo writes”
“you feel like Pablo feels”
“I know”
“because I feel what you write”
“your words”
“I feel what you feel”
“Mom don’t need to know,”
she says,
“Understand?”
“Mom don’t get no Pablo.”
